Work in the South Park Feedgrounds area is set to begin next week. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD) and Teton County announced on Thursday that the improvement work on the levee within South Park Wildlife Habitat Management Area will begin on Aug. 10 and conclude toward the end of September.
Crews with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, will be completing the work. The project involves removing old riprap and bringing in new materials to strengthen the levees. Riprap is a layer of stones placed along riverbanks and shorelines to protect from erosion.
While the area will remain open to the public throughout the project, visitors should use extreme caution, adhere to posted signs, avoid active work zones, and give heavy equipment and workers the right-of-way.
