A miniature brick replica of the Richardson Public Safety Campus is now on display in the main lobby, free for residents and other visitors to enjoy. Detective John Capers, who works for the nearby Garland Police Department, estimated it took around 200 hours to assemble his creation.
Building Bridges
Capers believes his hobby can help build bridges between law enforcement and the community. He said it allows people to see officers as more than just a badge, but as normal people with good ideas and hobbies.
Capers is already getting started on his next project: A model of the Highland Park United Methodist Church. He said it’s a beautiful campus with beautiful architecture and 100-year-old oak trees, and he’s really excited to work on it.
