Leander officials and business leaders gathered on Oct. 21 for a ribbon‑cutting ceremony to mark the opening of Leander Union, a new mixed‑use development that promises to boost the city’s economy and provide new options for shoppers, diners and professionals.
Project scope and design
Located just east of the intersection of Crystal Falls Parkway and 183A Toll, the 13‑acre Leander Union comprises ten buildings that together total 155,000 square feet of space. The development includes more than 40 individual suites, ranging from retail storefronts to office spaces and restaurant venues.
Two of the buildings are zoned specifically for retail and office use, while seven are designated for retail, dining or a combination of both. The site plan provides 468 parking spaces, ensuring ample access for customers and employees.
Developer background
The project was brought to life by Austin‑based Topo Development Group, a firm with a track record of delivering large‑scale projects throughout the metropolitan area. Topo’s portfolio includes the Springdale General development in East Austin, among other notable mixed‑use and residential projects.
Economic impact and community goals
According to the developer’s press release, Leander Union is intended to attract “a mix of local businesses, hospitality concepts and lifestyle tenants.” By offering a variety of commercial spaces, the development aims to create jobs, increase tax revenue and provide residents with convenient amenities close to home.
City leaders highlighted the project’s potential to spur further investment in the surrounding area, encouraging additional growth along the rapidly developing corridor near the 183A Toll corridor.
What’s next for Leander Union
Leander Union is now open to tenants and the public. Prospective businesses are encouraged to explore the available suites, and the city will continue to support the development’s integration into the community through infrastructure improvements and promotional events.
With its strategic location, ample parking, and diverse mix of commercial space, Leander Union is positioned to become a new hub for commerce and community activity in Leander.
