Latvia has closed its border with Belarus, according to Interior Minister Janis Dombrava. The border was closed for technical reasons, and travelers are urged to use alternative routes.
In 2023, Latvia closed the Silene border crossing with Belarus, citing pressure from irregular migration that Riga says was orchestrated by Minsk. Since then, Paternieki has remained the only operating crossing between the two countries.
