Las Cruces is launching a self-guided tour that takes film enthusiasts to various locations around the city, showcasing its cinematic appeal. The tour, a collaboration between Visit Las Cruces and Film Las Cruces, aims to promote the city’s film industry and its contributions to the local economy.
Film Industry Impact
According to the New Mexico Film Office, film productions generated $41.5 million in spending during the fiscal year 2026, resulting in $12.2 million in direct local spending and $19.5 million in total economic impact for Doña Ana County. This significant economic boost highlights the importance of the film industry in southern New Mexico.
The tour will provide brochures detailing film locations, from indie films to blockbusters, and Southwest Expeditions will offer guided tours of these locations. The brochures can be found on the Visit Las Cruces website.
Community leaders, including Visit Las Cruces Executive Director Rochelle Miller-Hernandez, City of Las Cruces Mayor Eric Enriquez, Las Cruces International Film Festival Executive Director Ross Marks, and Film Las Cruces President Jeff Steinborn, will speak about the tour’s development and the film industry’s importance at the historic Rio Grande Theatre on August 10.
