The Los Angeles Police Department issued a citywide tactical alert on Sunday to ensure the agency has enough resources to respond if soccer fans take to the streets after the Mexico-England World Cup match.
The alert was issued before the game ended. As of 7:35 p.m., the department was not aware of any incidents.
Tactical alerts mean on-duty officers are not allowed to leave their shifts until notified — an effort to increase the number of available resources.
