Lane Education Service District, a county-wide public education entity, is seeking two new members for its board of directors. The board has one at-large seat and one seat to represent the Springfield Public Schools area available.
Role of the Board
The Lane ESD Board of Directors is a seven-member board responsible for overseeing the organization, making decisions about its policies, budget, and superintendent. The board provides essential services to Lane County’s 16 districts, including technology, administrative, school improvement, and special education contractual services.
As a board member, one would play a crucial role in shaping the education landscape in Lane County, particularly for small, rural districts with limited resources and for students with disabilities in larger districts.
Eligibility and Application
To be eligible, applicants must be registered voters, meet the residency requirements for the specific board seat they are applying for, and not be employees of Lane ESD. Interested individuals can submit their applications by 5 p.m. on August 10. Following the application deadline, board members will select applicants to interview at their September 1 public meeting.
