The Lamar CISD board of trustees has approved a balanced budget for the 2026-27 school year, which includes a 3% pay increase for all district employees. The budget, presented to the board on May 19, has expenditures and revenue both reaching $572.2 million.
Budget Highlights
Additional budgetary updates include a 4.5% property growth, a retired teacher substitute pay increase of $10 a day, a $106.5 million fund balance amount throughout next school year, and a $2.7 million shortfall in the child nutrition fund budget due to rising fuel costs.
The administration is recommending a tax rate of $1.1451 per $100 valuation to allow the district to pay off its debt faster while still reducing it for residents. A public hearing will be held before the board votes on the tax rate at its August meeting.
