A 53-year-old man, Christopher Shannon Johnson, was arrested in Lakeland on Thursday evening after a physical altercation with his roommate. The incident occurred at a residence off Country Road 542, where Johnson and his roommate lived in a shared RV.
Incident Details
Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene at approximately 7 p.m. after receiving a report that Johnson had kicked his roommate and locked them out of the RV. Upon arriving at the property, deputies located the victim, who was not injured.
Johnson refused to cooperate with the responding deputies, barricading himself in the vehicle and yelling that he “wasn’t coming out and they didn’t have a warrant.” However, the victim gave deputies explicit permission to enter the mobile home. After multiple warnings, deputies moved inside the vehicle, led by K9 Wit, and discovered Johnson hiding in the back of the RV.
Johnson allegedly began attacking K9 Wit with his hands and attempted to escape the vehicle by shoving two of the deputies. Officers subdued Johnson and transported him to the Sheriff’s Processing Center. Neither the deputies nor K9 Wit sustained injuries during the encounter.
Johnson has been charged with Resisting without Violence, Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer (two counts), Battery on a Police Dog, Resisting with Violence, and Simple Battery.
