Savannah families, students and visitors are invited to celebrate the third annual Afro‑Wellness Experience, a day‑long event organized by Kwanzaa365 Connection. The program runs Saturday, Sept. 19 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Georgia Southern Armstrong Campus Student Union (11935 Library Drive). The event’s theme, “Unity in Diversity,” reflects the organization’s mission to bridge cultural arts and community well‑being.
Wellness programming for all ages
Attendees can choose from a variety of workshops designed to promote holistic health. Sessions include stress‑management and self‑care talks, African dance and drumming classes, and a vendor market featuring local businesses and community resources. The activities are intended to engage youth, college students and adults alike, encouraging mindful movement and cultural connection.
Evening artist showcase
After the daytime program, the experience moves to Savannah State University’s Kennedy Fine Arts Theatre (3219 College St.) for a two‑hour showcase from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The performance will feature regional talent such as GROWTH NC from Durham, North Carolina, and Wontonara from Atlanta. The showcase will also debut a community‑created work of art, inviting audience members to contribute to a visual story of collective wellness.
Support from local partners
Presenting sponsors Healthy Savannah, South State Bank and the Coastal Gullah Geechee & Afro‑Caribbean Chamber of Commerce will provide information and resources to help participants continue their wellness journeys. Additional sponsorship comes from Georgia Southern University, Savannah State University, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Georgia Council for the Arts.
