Marcus Myers’ first school board meeting as Kuna School District’s new superintendent lasted less than 25 minutes on Tuesday, but trustees still got some work done.
Administrative Changes and New App
The board approved administrative changes and received an update on a new app that will allow parents to track their child’s school bus in real time. BusRight will provide route updates and notifications while allowing parents to communicate with the bus driver.
“Just like when students go to the nurse and counselor at school, a simple scan of a pass will allow parents to know when their kid got on and off,” Assistant Superintendent Brian Graves said.
Myers introduced his new finance team, which includes Finance Director Austin Kohout and Accounting Director Cairlissa Morgan.
“We want to ensure we spend every dollar wisely because those resources translate into opportunities for students,” Myers said.
The board also approved Allison Westfall as its new clerk.
The meeting ended on a lighthearted note as board members joked with the new superintendent about their plans for Kuna Days, held Aug. 1-2.
