KSI Departs from Popular YouTube Group Sidemen

Olajide ‘KSI’ Olatunji, a well-known British content creator, has announced his departure from the Sidemen, a YouTube collective he helped build over the last decade. KSI, who is also a gamer, vlogger, rapper, and boxer, shared the news with his 18.4 million subscribers in a heartfelt video on his YouTube channel.

A Personal Decision

In the nearly 13-minute video, KSI, 32, described the choice to leave as the ‘hardest video I’ve ever had to make in my life.’ He explained that the decision was made after months of contemplation, emphasizing that it was entirely his own and not due to any conflict within the group. ‘Nothing bad has happened,’ he assured his audience.

KSI reflected on the journey with the Sidemen, describing them as his ‘second family.’ The group, which has a combined audience of 47 million across various platforms, has achieved significant milestones, including sold-out stadium shows and Netflix productions. Despite these successes, KSI acknowledged the personal toll of maintaining such a high level of activity.

Focus on Family and Balance

Highlighting the importance of personal well-being, KSI stated, ‘I found it hard to make enough time for myself… and for my family.’ He expressed the need to regain balance in his life, noting that the Sidemen deserve someone who can give 100% commitment, which he feels he cannot currently provide.

The Sidemen, in response, expressed surprise at KSI’s announcement but wished him well in his future endeavors. They assured fans that the group would continue to produce content and have exciting plans ahead.

KSI’s decision underscores the challenges faced by content creators in balancing professional demands with personal life, a theme that resonates with many in today’s fast-paced digital world.
