Krzysztof Arsenowicz, a longtime radio host and Northwest Sider, dedicated his life to helping Chicago’s Polish community. Though Arsenowicz died in February 2025 at 70 years old, a new honorary street sign dedicated to his legacy will continue to guide Polish Chicagoans for decades to come.
A Life of Service
A crowd of Arsenowicz’s former radio station colleagues, family members, and elected officials gathered at the intersection of North Narragansett and West Berteau avenues in Dunning for the unveiling of “Krzysztof Arsenowicz Way.”
Arsenowicz hosted a Polish-language radio show for more than 20 years, playing Polish hits and interviewing other active members of Chicago’s Polish-American community. He also hosted a show on the Polvision television station for more than 15 years.
Community Impact
Halina Zurawski, principal of the St. Ferdinand Polish School in Belmont Cragin, was among those at Wednesday’s dedication. She said Arsenowicz would invite her students to the radio station and the TV studio to give them tours and even interview them.
Arsenowicz frequently used his radio and television shows to promote local fundraisers and nonprofits. Every year, Arsenowicz would host a telethon for the Gift from the Heart foundation, a Schiller Park-based group that brings European children who have serious illnesses or disabilities to the United States for medical treatment.
