Shreveport, La. – On Friday evening the Krewe of Sobek marked the start of its 24th Mardi Gras season with a royal crowning ceremony at Bally’s North Casino and Hotel. The celebration, titled the “24 Karat Gold” season, signaled the transition from Season 23 to the new festivities.

Royal court announced

The krewe’s members gathered as the evening progressed, and at 8 p.m. the new royal court was presented. Brian White was named king and Crystal White was named queen. “It’s an honor and a pleasure to be serving as Queen 24,” Crystal White said during the ceremony. King‑designate Brian White added, “I’m ready to have a good season and ready to have a good time.”

Doors to the venue opened at 6 p.m., allowing members and guests to mingle before the formal presentation.
