Knox County residents have a new opportunity to celebrate the courage, compassion, service and integrity of the area’s youngest leaders. KnoxTNToday, together with its Feature Partners, is accepting nominations for the 2026 Hero Kid Award through November 30.
What the award honors
The Hero Kid Award highlights children and teenagers who step up for others, organize projects that change lives, or act quietly without seeking applause. The award’s feather symbol stands for truth and honor—values the nomination committee will look for in each story.
Who can be nominated
Any young person who has demonstrated character, kindness and bravery may be considered. Examples include a teenager who organized a neighborhood service project, a student whose quick thinking saved a life, or a child whose everyday actions make a lasting difference for peers and neighbors.
How to submit a nomination
Nomination forms should be sent by email to [email protected]. Include the nominee’s name, age, school (if applicable), a description of the heroic act or service, and any supporting documentation or awards the youth has already received. The review committee will evaluate each submission on merit, taking into account any prior recognitions.
Why community involvement matters
Parents, grandparents, teachers, coaches, neighbors and local leaders are encouraged to look around their neighborhoods, churches, classrooms and sports teams for candidates. Recognizing these young role models reinforces the message that character and service have no age limit and inspires other children to follow suit.
Deadline and next steps
The nomination window closes at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, November 30, 2026. After the deadline, the committee will review all entries and select the next Hero Kid, who will be announced in a future KnoxTNToday feature. The award is sponsored by KnoxTNToday and its community partners, all of whom share a commitment to uplifting the next generation.
Don’t let a deserving young person’s story go untold. Submit a nomination today and help shine a light on the everyday heroes who make Knox County a stronger, kinder place for everyone.
