Police say a 15‑year‑old former pupil of a primary school in Leszczydol‑Nowiny, Wyszków County, attacked the building early Thursday, killing a 37‑year‑old caretaker and injuring two other staff members.
Details of the attack
The caretaker was the first person struck with a sharp object, according to police spokesperson Katarzyna Kucharska. The school principal heard the screams and tried to restrain the attacker, assisted by a teacher; both were injured but not in life‑threatening condition.
Interior Ministry spokesperson Karolina Galecka confirmed that the two injured are stable. The attacker, a former pupil now attending a vocational school, was carrying three knives. Motives remain unknown.
Government response
Prime Minister Donald Tusk was alerted and called an emergency meeting, according to a government spokesperson.
