The New York Knicks are on the brink of their first title since 1973 after pulling off the greatest comeback in NBA Finals history. They rallied from a 29-point deficit to defeat the San Antonio Spurs in Game 4 by a score of 107-106.
A Historic Comeback
The Knicks came all the way back to stun the Spurs, with OG Anunoby tipping in the game-winning shot with 1.2 seconds remaining. The win gives the Knicks a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series, with a chance to clinch the title on Saturday in San Antonio.
The Spurs dominated the first half, breaking numerous NBA Finals records in the process. However, the Knicks chipped away at the Spurs’ lead in the second half, with Madison Square Garden getting louder and louder as the game came to a close.
Brunson was the spark plug for the Knicks, giving them their first lead of the game with just 1:22 left in the fourth quarter. Anunoby’s 33 points on 7-for-9 shooting from three also played a crucial role in the Knicks’ victory.
