Knicks Edge Spurs in Thrilling Game 2 of NBA Finals

The New York Knicks managed to fend off a determined comeback by the San Antonio Spurs, securing a 105-104 victory in Game 2 of the NBA Finals. The game concluded with Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama missing a crucial last-second shot, allowing the Knicks to extend their playoff win streak to 13 games. This win places New York just two victories away from potentially tying an NBA record and winning their first championship since 1973.

Game Highlights

The Spurs started strong, leading 35-24 after the first quarter. However, the Knicks, led by Karl-Anthony Towns, rallied back in the second quarter. Towns, who scored 17 points in the first half, helped New York take their first lead with just over three minutes left in the second quarter. By halftime, the Knicks held a four-point advantage.

In the third quarter, the Knicks extended their lead to 10 points, but Towns’ foul trouble allowed Wembanyama to shine. The young French player scored 12 of his 29 points in the third quarter, closing the gap for the Spurs. Despite this, the Knicks maintained their lead going into the final quarter.

The fourth quarter saw the Spurs cutting the Knicks’ lead to five points with nine minutes remaining. The game intensified as tensions rose between players, notably between Spurs guard De’Aaron Fox and Knicks star Jalen Brunson. This sparked a Knicks surge, but the Spurs responded with a 14-0 run to tie the game at 97.

In the final moments, Brunson’s missed jumper led to a turnover by Wembanyama, giving the Knicks a chance to regain the lead. Brunson made one of two free throws, and with just over seven seconds left, Wembanyama missed a potential game-winning shot, sealing the victory for the Knicks.

Game 3 is set for Monday at Madison Square Garden, with former President Donald Trump expected to attend.
