The New York Knicks are celebrating their first NBA championship in 53 years with a parade in Lower Manhattan. The NYPD has deployed its largest number of officers to a planned event in the city’s history, with over 10,000 officers assigned to the ticker-tape victory parade.
Parade Details
The parade route will be held on a stretch of Broadway Street known as the Canyon of Heroes. Spectators are being screened at 23 locations along the parade route, and bags, backpacks, umbrellas, glass, and metal bottles will not be allowed.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani will host a championship ceremony at City Hall, where the team will receive Keys to the City. The Knicks have also accepted an invitation from President Donald Trump to visit the White House.
The NYPD has implemented an elevated security operation in response to the heightened threat environment, with lone wolf attacks against the parade and associated events being the primary threat.
