A 3-month-old kitten named Stormy is available for adoption after being rescued from a storm drain in Gardena. The kitten had been trapped underground for weeks before being pulled to safety.
Rescue Efforts
Rescue workers were initially unable to reach the kitten due to a sealed manhole cover, but community members came together to keep the kitten alive by lowering food and water down the storm drain.
After a breakthrough in determining the ownership of the manhole, three contractors were brought in to assist with opening the stubborn cover. The kitten was finally rescued after a seven-hour operation.
Stormy is now available for adoption at the SPCALA South Bay Pet Adoption Center in Hawthorne.
