Kissy Simmons, a talented singer, actress, and dancer from Floral City, Florida, is currently starring in the ensemble cast of freeFall Theatre’s new musical, ‘Bash of the Titans’. This loose satire of the 1981 fantasy film ‘Clash of the Titans’ features 1980s pop songs with re-worked lyrics.
From Athletics to Theatre
Before pursuing a career in show business, Simmons was a star athlete. She won the Florida state high jump championship in 1992 and attended the University of South Florida on a track scholarship. However, her drama teacher encouraged her to audition for the school musical, and she soon discovered her passion for performing.
Simmons’ impressive stage history includes playing Nala in Disney’s ‘The Lion King’ for nine years, with performances on Broadway, in Las Vegas, and on the first American tour. She has also appeared on TV shows such as ’30 Rock’, ‘Smash’, ‘The Detour’, and ‘Six Degrees’.
Now, Simmons is excited to be working with Eric Davis, the co-founder and artistic director of freeFall Theatre, on ‘Bash of the Titans’. The musical runs through August 2, and Simmons will also perform a one-woman cabaret at freeFall on July 9.
