York County residents can look forward to a larger Kings Mountain State Park after the Open Space Institute (OSI) announced the acquisition of a 588‑acre parcel that borders the existing park. The land, purchased on August 26, will remain under OSI ownership for a few years before being transferred to the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism, creating a permanent safeguard against development.
