LAS VEGAS (KSNV) – Alex Rosen, founder of the online watchdog group Predator Poachers, says his team cooperated fully with Kern County investigators after the 2021 sting that targeted former YouTube personality Bryant Moreland, known online as EDP445.
Disputed accounts
Rosen told News 3 that his group stayed in contact with a Kern County sheriff’s investigator for several weeks, turning over chat messages and granting the investigator access to all relevant accounts. He said the investigator even filed a preservation request, effectively a subpoena, to Instagram, which returned the preserved records.
“We gave him access to all of the accounts. He even did a preservation request, like he sent a subpoena to Instagram, and Instagram came back with those records of the preserved accounts. So, they had everything they needed in order to prosecute this guy,” Rosen said.
DA’s statement
The Kern County District Attorney’s Office previously released a statement saying its review faced significant challenges, including a lack of cooperation from reporting parties. The office and the Kern County Sheriff’s Office reopened the investigation after reviewing statements Moreland made in filmmaker Mike Clum’s documentary, The Sick Mind of EDP445, released this year.
Charges filed
Prosecutors announced on Nov. 2 that the DA’s Office filed four felony charges against Moreland: attempted lewd acts upon a child, meeting a minor for lewd purposes, contacting a minor with intent to commit a sexual offense, and distributing or showing pornography to a minor. The charges stem from an alleged incident on April 17, 2021, involving a child under 14.
Video evidence
Predator Poachers posted video from 2021 showing the group confronting Moreland at a Bakersfield apartment complex. The group used an online decoy posing as a 13‑year‑old girl; Moreland met the decoy and confirmed the child’s age and the sexual nature of their messages.
The video, uploaded five years ago, led to Moreland’s ban from major social‑media platforms, but the case did not move forward until the documentary’s release in 2026.
Arrest in Nevada
Moreland was arrested in Henderson, Nevada, on Wednesday. Content creator JiDion posted footage of Henderson police taking him into custody outside a dialysis center on the 2300 block of Corporate Circle. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center for medical reasons.
Rosen’s response
Rosen said Predator Poachers works with law‑enforcement agencies nationwide and has assisted with arrests. “Kern County and EDP, they pick and choose when to enforce the law,” he said, adding that the group recorded evidence to hand over to prosecutors, emphasizing they are not vigilantes.
“We simply record evidence of crimes and turn it into law enforcement, which makes us totally not vigilantes,” Rosen said. “This year we have done 295 of these busts and we’re on pace for over 300.”
Next steps
Moreland is expected to appear in a Las Vegas court on Monday as extradition proceedings continue. The Kern County DA’s Office said an arraignment will be scheduled after his return to California.
