A 55-year-old man wanted in connection to a 2013 murder in Christian County is now facing additional charges after he allegedly fired a semi-automatic rifle at police in Garrard County.
Arrest and Charges
According to Kentucky State Police, officers responded to a home on Polly’s Bend Road with a warrant for the arrest of Jason Patterson. Patterson was wanted in connection to the murder of 53-year-old Faye Springfield, who was found dead in her Hopkinsville apartment on July 30, 2013.
After lengthy negotiations, Patterson allegedly fired a semi-automatic rifle at police and fled into the woods. He was later located by KSP aircraft personnel, two rope technicians from USAR TF-1, and KSP Special Response Team members on a cliffside, where he appeared to have sustained injuries from an approximate 40-foot fall.
Patterson was treated on the scene before being hoisted from the area. He was then transported to UK Hospital for further treatment. The suspect remains in KSP custody while at the hospital, and after his release, he will be served an outstanding murder warrant and lodged in jail.
