Indianapolis played host to some of the fastest swimming in the world this week as the 2026 Pro Swim Series wrapped up at the IU Indianapolis Natatorium — and the city witnessed a piece of history in the making.
According to SwimSwam, night three of the competition featured a world record performance by Douglass, capping off an electrifying three-day meet that drew elite swimmers from across the country to the Circle City.
The Pro Swim Series is one of USA Swimming’s premier annual competitions, and Indianapolis has long been a marquee stop on the circuit thanks to the world-class facilities at the IU Indianapolis Natatorium. This year’s event did not disappoint, with SwimSwam reporters noting a string of standout performances across multiple days that kept fans and swimming enthusiasts on the edge of their seats.
Adding to the aquatic excitement, the IU Indianapolis Natatorium also recently hosted the inaugural Midwest Summer Festival, a USA Water Polo event that concluded earlier in the week. The festival marked a first-of-its-kind regional gathering for the sport, further cementing Indianapolis’s reputation as a premier destination for competitive aquatics.
Together, the two events showcased Indianapolis as a hub for world-class water sports — and gave local fans a front-row seat to record-breaking athletic achievement right in their own backyard.
