Kalen DeBoer is still writing his own legacy as a coach, with his legacy prior to his time at Alabama being a three-time national champion and a guy who turned a three-win team into a national championship contender in two seasons.
DeBoer’s Alabama Tenure
He’s won at every level he’s been at, including in the SEC through his first two seasons with the Crimson Tide. And yet, fans are split on DeBoer’s Alabama tenure. The Crimson Tide’s lead man is entering his third season, and despite receiving a contract extension and a salary raise to $12.5 million this offseason, many people still question if he’s the right guy to lead the Tide.
Alabama’s legacy is national championships, conference championships, first-round draft picks, and the standard of college football. While DeBoer is a veteran coach, will his tenure with the Tide be defined by whether or not he wins a national title?
"I certainly know that’s an important part of what’s happened in the program, so wouldn’t doubt if that’s the case. I’m not focused on that," DeBoer said. "I’m focused on just helping our program be the best and trying to bring out best and raise the level of everyone around me, from coaching staff to our players; trying to maximize what we’re capable every single day."
