Far-left journalist Joy Reid recently told Maine Democrats they have her permission to not vote if the party replaces suspended Senate candidate Graham Platner with a more moderate option. Reid made the comments on her show after Platner suspended his campaign following allegations of misconduct.
Platner’s Campaign Suspension
Platner, who was the subject of multiple allegations, including a bombshell rape allegation, suspended his campaign just five days before a crucial deadline. The Maine Democratic Party has until July 27 to select a new nominee.
Reid warned party leaders that if they do not replace Platner with an ideologically similar candidate, voters may stay home on Election Day. She emphasized that the Democratic Party needs to learn that it is not just about voting for any Democrat, but about voting for a candidate who shares the same values as the voters.
Reid’s comments come as the Democratic Party in Maine is facing a critical decision in replacing Platner. The party must choose a candidate who will appeal to the state’s progressive voters and compete against Republican candidate Susan Collins.
