Clark County families have a new reason to gather for wholesome entertainment. Journey Theater, the nonprofit, Jesus‑centered arts program that has been nurturing youth in the area since 2002, will present a fully staged version of the beloved musical Newsies at Fort Vancouver High School.
Local youth bring the story to life
Set in turn‑of‑the‑century New York City, Newsies follows Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy who leads a band of teenage newsies in a strike against publishing giants that raise distribution prices at the boys’ expense. The production highlights themes of courage, fairness and standing up for what is right—values that resonate with families and faith‑based communities.
Journey Theater’s cast is comprised entirely of talented local youth, giving parents a chance to see their children and neighbors perform on stage. The organization’s mission to grow youth and families in character and purpose shines through in every rehearsal and performance.
Performance schedule and tickets
The opening night is Friday, November 6, at 7 p.m. Two additional shows follow on Saturday, November 7, at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. The production returns the following week with the same schedule: Friday, November 13, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, November 14, at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Tickets are available now at journeytheater.org or by calling 360‑750‑8550. Adult tickets cost $22, while senior citizens, children and youth tickets are $20. Families are encouraged to “Seize the Day” and secure seats early, as the show is expected to fill quickly.
Why this matters for the community
Beyond providing quality entertainment, the production supports Journey Theater’s broader goal of fostering character development and purpose among Clark County’s next generation. By offering a family‑friendly, faith‑affirming experience, the theater reinforces the importance of strong families and community involvement—cornerstones of a thriving neighborhood.
Local businesses and churches are welcome to partner with Journey Theater, helping to ensure that the arts remain accessible to all families, regardless of income. The program’s nonprofit status means that ticket revenue directly supports future productions, scholarships and youth outreach initiatives.
