Podcast host Joe Rogan has shared the story of the intense pressure campaigns aimed at removing him from Spotify during the pandemic. In an interview, Rogan claimed that political action committees, corporate entities, and even sitting and former U.S. presidents attempted to have his show pulled over his discussions regarding COVID-19 vaccine side effects.
Pressure Campaign
Rogan explained that his massive, pre-existing audience caught critics off guard, allowing him to establish a platform before major pushback began. The opposition was heavily funded and targeted his revenue streams directly, with Rogan stating that he lost a lot of sponsors as a result.
Despite the financial losses, Rogan credited Spotify’s corporate structure and his own global reach for his survival on the platform. He also alleged that top-level political figures directly intervened with the streaming giant, with presidents and former presidents contacting Spotify to get him removed for vaccine misinformation.
Rogan maintained that his questioning of the mainstream pandemic narrative was ultimately validated, and he expressed frustration over the lack of accountability from his critics. He suggested that any attempt to censor him would have backfired due to the Streisand effect, a phenomenon where trying to silence information only increases its public visibility.
