Joan Cusack Returns to Red Carpet for ‘Toy Story 5’ Premiere

Joan Cusack, the beloved actress known for her roles in films like ‘Working Girl’ and ‘School of Rock’, made a notable return to the red carpet after an 11-year hiatus. The 63-year-old actress attended the London premiere of ‘Toy Story 5’, where she continues to voice the character of Jessie, the cowgirl toy, a role she has cherished since 1999’s ‘Toy Story 2’.

A Celebrated Career

Cusack’s career has been marked by her distinctive portrayals of quirky and often Midwestern characters. Her talent has earned her two Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress, highlighting her performances in ‘Working Girl’ and ‘In and Out’. She has also shared the screen with her brother, John Cusack, in films such as ‘Say Anything …’ and ‘High Fidelity’. One of her memorable roles includes playing a prep school principal in the comedy ‘School of Rock’.

Despite her success, Cusack has become more selective in recent years, particularly regarding roles that require her to appear on screen. Her last on-screen performance was in the TV series ‘Homecoming’ in 2020. According to reports from PEOPLE and E! News, her last red carpet appearance was at Showtime’s Emmy Eve event in September 2015.

‘Toy Story 5’ and Its Cast

The London premiere also featured other stars from the ‘Toy Story 5’ cast, including Tim Allen, who voices Buzz Lightyear, and Tom Hanks, who reprises his role as Woody. Joining them was Greta Lee, a newcomer to the franchise, who voices the antagonist, a frog-shaped smart tablet. The film is set to be released in U.S. theaters on June 19, marking seven years since the last installment of the beloved series.
