Jimmie Johnson, a seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, is set to leave NASCAR with a final Cup race at next season’s Daytona 500. Johnson will be driving his old No. 48 car for his final race.
Johnson’s Legacy
Johnson is the majority owner of Legacy Motor Club and has been busy in the boardroom, looking for investors and growing his race team. He has added some big-time winners to his team, including six-time IndyCar champion Scott Dixon and Grammy Award winner Darius Rucker.
Johnson is expected to make his 703rd and final Cup start in February’s Daytona 500. He has won 83 career races in his NASCAR career and is the only racer to be selected The Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year.
Johnson’s Future
Johnson has been spending his time sharpening Legacy’s future and is dedicated to turning the team into a winner. He has a few races on deck in other racing series and is looking forward to his final Cup start.
Johnson has also been selected for a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which he hopes to unveil on the Tuesday of Daytona 500 week.
