Chrysler’s parent company, Stellantis, is recalling over a million Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators due to a potential fire risk that could ignite even when the vehicle is turned off.
Recall Details
The issue affects certain 2021 to 2025 Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator vehicles. An electrical connection issue with the hydraulic power steering pump wiring may overheat and cause a fire, even when the vehicle is parked with the ignition in the “Off” position. Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until their vehicle is repaired.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is aware of 51 fires and one injury that may be linked to the electrical issue. Stellantis will notify affected customers by mail, with letters expected to be mailed on July 9, informing owners when they can schedule repairs. Dealers will inspect affected vehicles and perform repairs free of charge.
