JCCC President Reflects on First Year

Dr. Tony Miksa, president of Johnson County Community College (JCCC), recently reflected on his first year in office. When asked about his accomplishments, Miksa emphasized the connections he has made across campus.

Building Relationships

Miksa stated, “I’m most proud of the connections I’ve made across campus. Some days on campus are going to be great. Others are going to be challenging. But when we all work together, and we rely on those relationships we’ve built, that’s what gets us through each day and helps us move forward together.”

Miksa also described the JCCC community as “inclusive,” saying, “I feel there’s a place for everybody on campus, no matter who you are, no matter where you come from, and no matter where you’re going. We have a place to help you be successful here.”

Looking Ahead

As Miksa enters his second year, he is focused on what he calls the “40-40-40” vision: reaching a 40% graduation rate, having 40,000 students on campus, and raising $40 million for strategic campus development and initiatives.

Miksa is also excited about the early phases of JCCC’s new 2025-2035 Facilities Master Plan, which includes the construction of a new Healthcare Center of Excellence. This facility will allow the college to double enrollment in its nursing program, expand its dental hygiene and respiratory care programs, and introduce new healthcare offerings.
