Jason Alexander Apologizes for Inappropriate Skit

Jason Alexander has apologized for his role in a lewd 2012 comedy sketch with Courtney Stodden, who was 17 years old at the time. The sketch, which was created for the Funny or Die media company, featured Alexander and Stodden, who was married to 51-year-old actor Doug Hutchison at the time.

Background

Stodden first drew international attention in 2011 after marrying Hutchison at the age of 16. The marriage was later chronicled in the television movie “I Was a Child Bride,” and Stodden’s public profile led to numerous reality TV appearances, including “Celebrity Big Brother.” Stodden and Hutchison finalized their divorce in March 2020.

On Monday, Stodden revisited the 2012 skit on Instagram, posting an image from the sketch and expressing her feelings about the experience. She stated that she was the only child in the room and felt alone during the filming. Stodden also pushed back on claims that she willingly participated in the sketch, saying she was a minor and did not have the legal power to decide whether she wanted to participate.

Apology

On Tuesday, Alexander issued an apology to Stodden, stating that he completely agrees that the sketch was inappropriate and that he truly regrets it. He also expressed his sincerest apologies for any harm or distress the sketch may have caused Stodden.
