Jacob deGrom Secures 100th Career Win as Rangers Defeat Cardinals

Jacob deGrom, the Texas Rangers’ star pitcher, reached a significant milestone by earning his 100th career victory in a closely contested game against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Rangers, visiting St. Louis, secured a 2-1 win, marking their fourth consecutive victory, which ties their season high.

Game Highlights

DeGrom delivered an impressive performance, pitching five shutout innings and allowing only four hits. He walked one batter and struck out eight, showcasing the skills that have earned him two Cy Young Awards. This victory makes deGrom the 16th active pitcher to reach 100 wins, following his teammate Nathan Eovaldi, who achieved the same milestone in July 2025.

Offensively, Ezequiel Duran was a standout for the Rangers, contributing three hits, including a crucial double that brought in a run. Joc Pederson also played a key role, delivering an RBI single. Nicky Lopez added two hits to the Rangers’ efforts.

The Rangers broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning when Brandon Nimmo scored from first base on Duran’s two-out double. They added another run in the fifth inning, with Danny Jansen drawing a walk, stealing second, and scoring on Pederson’s single to center field.

Cardinals’ Struggles

The Cardinals, who have been struggling recently with six losses in their last eight games, managed to score their only run in the sixth inning. Masyn Winn hit a solo home run, his second of the season, off Rangers reliever Peyton Gray. Despite this effort, the Cardinals could not overcome the Rangers’ lead.

St. Louis had a chance to score in the second inning with two runners on base, but deGrom effectively shut down the threat by striking out Jordan Walker and Bryan Torres. Walker, unfortunately, struck out in all four of his at-bats during the game.

Cardinals pitcher Michael McGreevy allowed two runs on five hits over six innings, walking two and striking out one. Despite his efforts, the Cardinals could not capitalize on their opportunities.

Jacob Latz, one of the Rangers’ relievers, closed the game by retiring the Cardinals in order in the ninth inning, earning his eighth save of the season. The Rangers’ pitching staff collectively struck out 14 Cardinal batters, underscoring their dominance on the mound.
