Jackson, WY — Halloween excitement is heading to Town Square this Friday, October 30, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual Trunk‑or‑Treat and costume‑contest celebration, a family‑focused event that highlights community, creativity, and local commerce.
Event details and road closures
To create a safe pedestrian zone, the Chamber has arranged road closures on two sides of Town Square. Deloney Avenue between Cache Avenue and Center Street, and Center Street between Broadway and E. Gill Avenue, will be closed from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. for set‑up and event operations. The closures ensure children can move safely between participating businesses and the central trunk‑or‑treat area.
Trunk‑or‑Treat and trick‑or‑treat opportunities
Kids will be able to walk the Town Square parking area, where local merchants will display decorated vehicle trunks filled with candy and treats. In addition, businesses throughout the downtown area are joining the festivities, offering additional trick‑or‑treat stations for families who wish to explore the broader community.
“Trick‑or‑treat on the Town Square embodies what makes Jackson Hole special: community, creativity, and connection,” the Chamber writes on its website. “It’s a time when local businesses open their doors, families gather downtown, and the Town Square shines with laughter and fall charm.”
Pet and human costume contests
The pet costume contest, organized in partnership with PAWS, will begin at 4:30 p.m. Two categories are open: best dog costume and best dog‑and‑human combo costume. Following the pet awards, a human costume competition will feature five age‑based divisions: infants and toddlers (0‑3), kids (4‑7), big kids (8‑12), teens and adults (13+), and groups/families with two or more participants. Each entrant may compete in only one category, either a specific age group or the group division.
Community impact
The Chamber emphasizes that the event provides a safe, festive environment for families while supporting local shops. “We’re proud to provide a safe, festive environment for families while supporting local shops and creating memories that last long after the candy is gone,” the Chamber said.
Parents and grandparents are encouraged to attend, enjoy the seasonal decorations, and celebrate the holiday together. The event also offers an opportunity for local businesses to showcase their offerings and strengthen ties with the community.
