Israeli Strike Kills Five Palestinians

An Israeli airstrike in northern Gaza killed two Palestinians on Thursday, according to medics in the area. Additionally, three Palestinians were shot dead in the occupied West Bank, as reported by Palestinian authorities and the Israeli military.

The Israeli military stated that it had targeted militants in Gaza. In the West Bank, a civilian reportedly killed two Palestinians after they stabbed and wounded an Israeli during a dispute. The Israeli military also shot a third Palestinian in the West Bank following a separate stabbing attack that wounded an Israeli soldier.

Tensions have been high in the West Bank due to escalating settler violence and Israeli plans to build more settlements on the territory that Palestinians see as a key part of a future state. About 700,000 Israeli settlers live among 2.7 million Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
