Kate O’Connor won the heptathlon, doubling Ireland’s gold tally, while Mark English won the 800-meter final and Rhasidat Adeleke took silver in the 200 meters. Andrew Coscoran also picked up a bronze in the 1,500 meters.
Husband-and-wife duo Eoin Murphy and Emma McNelis, from Dublin, were in attendance, waving an Irish flag and cheering on their athletes. Murphy said, “It feels like there’s as many Irish as British here — at the stadium.”
