The head of Iran’s Basij paramilitary unit, Hossein Taeb, said the Strait of Hormuz is under Iran’s control and management, according to the semi-official Fars news agency.

This statement came a day after US President Donald Trump wrote that the US had total control of the strategic waterway.

Taeb said the US had sought to disrupt Iran’s popularity in the region but was defeated. Iran is continuing on its course in complete security, he added.
