Youth and Shelter Services is launching a new campaign aimed at combating opioid addiction in the state. “Before It Becomes More” allows YSS to expand evidence-informed education and provide families with tools to prevent substance misuse before it begins, the organization said.
Prevention Efforts
“Our message is simple–prevention works, recovery is possible, and every Iowan has a role to play,” Andrew Allen, President and Chief Executive Officer of YSS, said in a news release. “By giving parents and community members the tools they need to educate and engage their communities, we can continue building momentum and help save lives.”
The campaign will include community partnerships, digital outreach, and local events in the coming months. Communities and event organizers can also request to have YSS’s Hidden in Plain Sight trailer at upcoming events to help raise awareness about opioid prevention.
