Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds has appointed Martin Noven as the new CEO of Iowa’s public employee retirement system, known as IPERS. Noven, who previously served as executive director for Maryland’s public retirement fund, will take over as IPERS CEO on Aug. 24.
Noven’s appointment comes months after the resignation of former CEO Greg Samorjaski and the firing of former Chief Benefits Officer Steven Herbert. Both were accused of misconduct.
More than 400,000 Iowans participate in the IPERS Trust Fund, which is valued at more than $45 billion.
