Indiana saw its highest rise in reported cases of cyclosporiasis, with over 130 new cases reported on Wednesday, bringing the total to 1,092 as of July 29.
Cyclosporiasis Cases by County
Allen County in northeastern Indiana has the highest number of reports, with 218 cases so far. Cases can be seen across the state, but more cases are being reported in the northern parts of the state. The highest number of cases reported in southern Indiana are coming from Harrison County, with 48 cases as of July 29.
The Indiana Department of Health began tracking cases on July 16, when 327 cases were reported. The department is updating its county-by-county data once a day, Monday through Friday. The health department encourages people experiencing gastrointestinal illness to contact their doctor for testing and/or treatment. Officials say the parasitic disease is treatable with antibiotics.
