Indian River County firefighter-paramedic Geoffrey Lang was honored at a memorial service held at The Community Church in Vero Beach, following his unexpected death last month.

A Life of Service

The room was filled with Lang’s friends, family, and colleagues, while dozens of community members showed their support through the church’s livestream of the event. Bagpipes led the procession, followed by a prayer, setting the tone for a service focused on remembering Lang’s life of service.

Speakers described Lang as someone who dedicated himself to his community, sharing stories of his service, compassion, and the lasting difference he made in the lives of many. Dustin Hawkins, chaplain and firefighter with Indian River County Fire, said, ‘He chose to serve alongside all of us. When there was a need, he met and exceeded, and throughout his career, as having a great honor of served alongside of him, he answered those calls with courage.’

Lang’s colleagues and family encouraged attendees to remember not just his loss but the example he set throughout his life and service, saying his contributions and memory will continue to be felt across the community.
