Incarnate Word football is gearing up for the 2026 season with the start of training camp. Following a 5-7 season in 2025, head coach Clint Killough emphasized the importance of focusing on the present and not getting ahead of themselves.
Team Motivation
According to Killough, the team has mastered the techniques implemented during the offseason and is excited for their potential to return to winning football. Defensive lineman Josh Gonzalez, who has been with the team since 2021, feels that the team is back at the level it was in 2024 when they reached the second round of the FCS playoffs and won the Southland Conference.
The team is looking for a fast start to the season, and Killough added a competitive element to practice with a game of tug of war. Wide receiver Isaiah Champagne noted that the team was comfortable last year and didn’t work as hard as they could have, but this year the coaches are pushing them to be better every day.
