U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will continue conducting vehicle stops following a brief suspension triggered by two fatal agent-involved shootings, according to White House border official Tom Homan.
New Procedural Adjustments
The pause was reversed roughly 24 hours after its implementation, following a directive from President Donald Trump. Among the new mandates, ICE now requires at least one officer on scene to wear an active body camera during every vehicle stop. The agency has also mandated that experienced journeyman agents be assigned to each operation.
When host Dana Bash questioned how a review could yield conclusions during a single-day pause, Homan stated that the operational adjustments allowed enforcement actions to move forward while the overarching investigation continues. Homan emphasized that the body-camera policy is intended to provide clear records of all encounters for both law enforcement and the public.
