Hot Mama’s, located at 420 W. 13th Ave. in Eugene, offers a solid drum‑to‑flat wing ratio, juicy meat, and crispy skin. All 14 sauces are made in‑house and coat the wings without making them soggy. The restaurant even adds an extra wing if one is undersized.
Top five wing sauces
Raspberry habanero – A fruity, tart sauce with a fierce heat that balances nicely with a chunky bleu cheese dip.
Lemon pepper – A bright, sharp dry rub that stands out enough to be enjoyed without any dip.
Buffalo garlic – Garlic flecks add savory depth to the classic buffalo tang, making it a sensible upgrade.
Asian honey mustard – Sesame‑seeded, slightly spicy, and tangy, this sauce feels like a crowd‑pleaser.
Jamaican jerk – Herbs, allspice, and garlic give a pleasant heat and a backyard‑barbecue vibe.
Bottom three wing sauces
Barbecue – Dominated by tomato paste, it lacked the smoky, sweet, and mildly spicy profile we prefer.
Thai peanut – Thick and peanut‑buttery, the sauce masked heat and zip, requiring a ranch boost.
Spiced maple bacon – Sweet maple with bacon bits creates a sticky, sweet‑salty bite, but it wasn’t our favorite.
Other notable sauces
Garlic parmesan, chili lime cilantro, and classic buffalo all have merit, though they fell short of the top five.
The three hottest sauces – kamikaze, inferno, and hot – each deliver a different heat experience. Kamikaze starts deceptively mild before a slow, intense burn. Inferno offers immediate, forward‑facing heat. Hot provides a punchy, fruity finish and is the only one we’d order again with extra bleu cheese.
