Hoover High School’s Will Adams has been named the Alabama Sports Writers Association Mr. Baseball award winner, the Class 7A Player of the Year, and the Gatorade Alabama Baseball Player of the Year for the 2026 season. This achievement marks the first time a Hoover player has received the Mr. Baseball honor.
Award-Winning Season
Adams’ impressive season statistics include a .489 batting average, 52 runs batted in, 13 home runs, and 37 runs scored in 36 games. As a pitcher, he posted a 4-2 record with a 2.33 earned run average and 55 strikeouts in 36 innings, holding opposing hitters to a .163 batting average. Adams maintained a 4.0 GPA in the classroom and has signed to play at LSU, although he is projected as an early-round selection in July’s MLB Draft.
According to Hoover head coach Adam Moseley, Adams’ elite level of preparation and dedication to the sport set him apart from other players. Moseley praised Adams’ ability to balance his academic and athletic responsibilities, citing his volunteer work at the A.G. Gaston Boys and Girls Club and his participation in the Teens Need Teens Club as examples of his commitment to the community.
Community Involvement
Adams’ community involvement and academic achievements were also recognized by the Gatorade Player of the Year program, which considers athletic excellence, academics, and community involvement in its selection process. The program, now in its 41st year, recognizes one state winner in each of 12 sports across all 50 states and Washington, D.C.
As Adams looks to the future, he must decide whether to pursue a professional baseball career or attend LSU. Moseley believes that Adams will approach this decision with the same dedication and thoughtfulness that he has demonstrated throughout his high school career.
