Hooptown Hall of Fame Announces Class of 2026 Inductees

The Hooptown Hall of Fame in Spokane, Washington, has announced its Class of 2026, celebrating individuals who have significantly impacted the local basketball community. This year’s inductees include Dan Fitzgerald, Jeff Brown, Emily Westerberg, the 2006-08 Ferris Boys Basketball Team, and Kim Eng.

Honoring Local Legends

Dan Fitzgerald, a pivotal figure in Spokane’s basketball history, served as the coach and athletic director for the Gonzaga Bulldogs from 1978 to 1997. He led the team to their first NCAA tournament appearance, leaving a lasting legacy before his passing in 2010.

Jeff Brown, another Gonzaga alumnus, graduated from Mead High School and was inducted into the WCC Hall of Honor in 2010. His contributions to the sport have been recognized both locally and nationally.

Emily Westerberg, a standout player from Central Valley High School in Spokane Valley, went on to excel at Arizona State University. Her high school career was marked by numerous accolades, including being named the Washington 4A Player of the Year in 2002 and 2003.

The 2006-08 Ferris Boys Basketball Team and Kim Eng are also being honored for their contributions to the sport and community. The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on June 24 at the Hooptown USA Courts in Riverfront Park, featuring food, drinks, and community celebrations as part of the Hoopfest weekend events.

Tickets for the ceremony will be available soon, offering an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate the rich basketball heritage of Spokane.
