Honey Creek Resort, located in southern Iowa, is set to reopen on Monday after being closed by the State of Iowa last October due to contractual disputes with the previous operators. The state had claimed that the former management did not meet their contractual obligations, leading to the resort’s temporary shutdown.
New Management Takes Over
The reopening of the resort comes under the new management of Embergrove Hospitality Group, which will oversee the resort and lodging operations. Meanwhile, the Maxim Golf Group has been appointed to manage the golf course, which is already open to the public. This strategic division of responsibilities aims to enhance the quality of services offered at the resort.
Mark Campbell, Iowa Director of Administrative Services, explained the decision to split the management roles between two specialized companies. “We decided to bring in a professional golf management company and a professional hospitality company,” Campbell stated. “This approach allows us to evaluate the benefits of having two different operators, although there is still the possibility of moving to a single operator in the future if it proves advantageous.”
Future Developments
In addition to the reopening of the resort and golf course, plans are underway to restore the resort’s pool, which was originally installed by a different company. The restoration is expected to be completed by the fall, adding another attraction for visitors to enjoy.
The reopening of Honey Creek Resort is a significant development for the local community, providing a boost to the local economy and offering a renewed destination for family vacations and leisure activities in southern Iowa.
