The 40th T-Mobile Home Run Derby is tonight in Philadelphia at Citizens Bank Park, starting at 8pm Eastern. This year’s field includes the hometown Phillies duo of Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber, who are the first set of teammates in the Derby since 2018. Harper won the event in 2018, and Schwarber leads the majors with 32 home runs.
Joining them are Junior Caminero of the Tampa Bay Rays, Ben Rice of the New York Yankees, Jac Caglianone of the Kansas City Royals, Willson Contreras of the Boston Red Sox, Jordan Walker of the St. Louis Cardinals, and Munetaka Murakami of the Chicago White Sox. The format is new this year, with no clock and no outs. Each player gets 20 swings in Round One, 15 in the semis, and 15 in the finals. The winner takes home $1 million out of a $2.5 million prize pool.
